Servant of God Father Edward Joseph Flanagan, 1886-1948A native son of Ireland. Founder and citizen of Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska.
Champion and healer of struggling children and families. Servant of God Edward J. Flanagan’s legacy lives on in the haven for children he founded in our community—and throughout the world in nearly 90 programs directly inspired by his example.
Currently, Father Flanagan’s cause awaits approval by the Dicastery for the Cause of Saints, and he can be declared Venerable. Next, one miracle is needed to be declared Blessed, and a second miracle to be a Saint. In his own words, Father Flanagan said, “Pray, for prayers produce miracles.”
A prayer group has been formed in the parish to pray for Father Edward Joseph Flanagan, to move his journey to sainthood along. The group meets the third Wednesday of each month in the church from 6 to 6:30 pm.
